since moving to Utah in 2000
Thanksgiving
Point- This
place is a complete smorgesborg of things to do
from dinosaurs to
water towers, farm country, gardens and more. Interested

The Christa
McAuliffe Space Center -
One of my fondest memories in Utah is the year we took our group of
homeschoolers (ages 10 and up) to The Christa
McAuliffe Space Center.
The kids and parents a like talked about this adventure for many months
after. My son is in college now but he and his friends still talk about
our day at space camp.
Pioneer
Day events - On or around
July 24th each year. I don't have a specific location for this one, the
location of the various events change each year. One year my son and I
attended a kind of fair where all the vendors where in garb from the
1850's. It was great you could buy your own authentic style churn, eat
foods and see furniture and toys from the time period, climb on a
covered wagon and watch the art
of axe throwing as a sport as done back then.
As Pioneer Day approaches each year in Utah be sure to check your local
paper, online search and local cultural magazines, you will find a bevy
of things to do and see.
On my list to

recreates a typical community between 1847 and 1869. See the sights of
daily pioneer life and visit adobe houses, shops, schools, churches and
sites of cultural activities.

performances in Salt Lake City and Utah, and a rigorous out of state
touring program.

- The
Beehive House served as the
official residence of Brigham Young when he was president of the LDS
Church and Governor of the Utah Territory. Tours of the
house are available every 30 minutes.
Chase

-
The
only state
museum of
its
kind in the country, the Chase Home has become the place where
traditional art and artists from Utah's ethnic, native, occupational
and rural communities share their craft, music and dance with their own
communities, their Utah neighbors and with tourists from around the
world.
Pioneer
Memorial Museum
- The
Pioneer Memorial
Museum is noted as the world's largest collection of artifacts on one
particular subject, and features displays and collections of
memorabilia from the time the earliest settlers entered the Valley of
the Great Salt Lake until the joining of the railroads at a location
known as Promontory Point, Utah, May 10, 1869.
Wheeler

with animals, take a tractor drawn wagon ride, enjoy special events

history through those who created it and the art that reflects it.
